Michael Lindsey has been playing classical guitar for over ten years and specializes in South American and Spanish guitar from composers such as Heitor Villa Lobos, Fransisco Tarrega, Antonio Lauro, Isaac Albéniz, Ángel Villoldo, and Zequinha de Abreu.  He has played at events and festivals throughout the Lowcountry and Florida, including Piccolo Spoleto, the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival, the Barktober Festival, and openings and events at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art and the Michael Mitchell Gallery.

In the summer of 2012, Michael premiered a new work by Charleston composer and conductor Chuck Benesh at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Michael has also been the featured performer at the Charleston Farmer’s Market and plays regularly as a street performer downtown Charleston and at Second Sundays on King Street.

Mark Sloan, director and curator of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, describes Michael’s performances as “uniformly superb… He plays a fantastic range of musical material, all with a quiet passion,” while Lizz Biswell of the Halsey Institute adds that “Michael Lindsey has a wonderful way of creating an intimate and warm atmosphere out of any space.”
